A Promising Day-Kim Casebeer

A Promising Day by Kim Casebeer

The Kansas Academy of Oil Painters(KAOP), began in 1985 at the urging of the Wichita Center for the Arts, who had been sponsoring an annual small oil painting show for several years. Kansas artists were urged to found an organization to further stimulate an interest in oil painting for both the artist and the collector. The KAOP was founded in 1985 with 52 members. In order to insure high quality work, aspiring members had to have been accepted into three Wichita Center for the Arts Small Oil Competitions by three different national jurors. The bylaws were revised in 1995 to allow prospective members to submit 10 slides or photographs to the Board of Directors for judging and approval, or to have been accepted in any three Small Oil Competitions. In 2008, The bylaws were ammended to include acrylic painters.

Anyone wishing to join us in celebrating this beautiful age-old medium is urged to submit their work to Mickey Leiter at: jmleiter@cox.net or address: 7373 E. 29th St. #E317, Wichita, Kansas 67226
